What a YEAR 2017 was for our family! It was full of adventures, struggles, performances, celebrations, heartache, and lots of laughter! Earlier this week I posted the top blog posts of 2017, and now I’ll post the top adventures of 2017! <3 Thanks for spending the year with me – I’m excited to finish up 2017, to be honest, and I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings!
January
This January, I was able to attend the local National Women’s March in my hometown with Christopher and my sister-in-law, Lucia. And a few days later, Christopher and I were able to attend the National Tour of Something Rotten! with my OTHER sister-in-law Lee, and her best friend Gloria! We had an absolutely amazing time and loved the show! Not only that, but January was when I started working on The Stepmom Club Podcast – turning the vanity in my bedroom into a podcast “studio” and starting to record some episodes!
February
February was a very stressful one for our family, to be honest, but we did still have a few bright spots! We celebrates Valentine’s Day together by getting matching Dunder Mifflin t-shirts and having an Office-watching marathon! Later in the month I was also able to go tubing with my friends Michela and Teddi and we had an absolute blast!
March
March was allllll about theatre in our world! Christopher and I were able to work on a show together, which was wicked fun, and then once that show closed I jumped right in to stage managing another piece – called Clybourne Park – which I absolutely loved every second of!
April
April was VERY exciting in our world! We celebrated Easter with our family (and my ridiculously adorable nephew, Aiden!) and then we went on our second annual trip (read the post about our first visit here!) to Gettysburg, PA to visit Jessica’s sister Daphne at college! We had an absolutely amazing time and loved every minute of it! We can’t wait to go again this coming Spring!
May
May brought my friend Kate from Chicago to Boston for a whirlwind weekend of fun! And we also had a family photo session with my friend April of Alba Lumos Photography. We love her work so so much!
June
In June we were able to spend a lot of time together as a family before Jess went off to California to her mom’s for the summer! I was able to chaperone her school field trip to a local amusement park, we got to spend long summer days playing in the sprinklers with my baby nephew, and we took Jess out to Friendly’s (her favorite!) for her birthday! Then, after Jess got on the plane to CA, Christopher and I headed off on a mini road trip to visit our dear friends, Bartley and Trevor, in Richmond Virginia! June was an absolute adventure of a month and we loved it!
July
Christopher and I traveled to Vermont for our friends’ wedding this July, almost immediately followed by my friend group’s annual party – this year was the 10th year of it! Not only that, but Jessica came home AND I partnered up with my friend April, of Alba Lumos Photography, to start working as her assistant in her photography business! It was a truly great month!
August
August brought lots of one-on-one time for me and Jessica, as Chris was in rehearsal for a show, which meant tons of adventures for us – from IKEA to sunflower fields to setting up a giant slip n’ slide in our backyard with my best friends! I was also able to attend my friend Jenny’s bachelorette party, which included a TOTAL cutie of a baby and an awesome group of fun women! THEN it was our niece’s 5th birthday party and THEN Jessica’s first day of 8th grade! Whew! August was EXCITING, that’s for sure!
September
September was a month of LOVE!! We attended the Bachelor/Bachelorette party and then the wedding of our friends Jen & Michael! THEN it was our 2nd wedding anniversary, where we went off adventuring in local weird locations! Then I was absolutely honored to walk alongside my sister-in-law and an amazing group of others at an incredible MS Walk event – I hope I get to go again next year! And we spent the last weekend of the month celebrating our friends Jenny & Ben at their gorgeous wedding – I was so honored to be a bridesmaid! It was truly a month for the books <3
October
October brought me the opportunity to go to see the National Tour of an amazing musical called Fun Home with my sister-in-law Christine! It was PHENOMENAL!!! Then, as you know, this space got an updated look. And Halloween, one of the most fun holidays ever, was EPIC this year. (“Identity theft is not a joke, Jim! Millions of families suffer every year!”) We had a total blast!
November
November was a more relaxed month, thank goodness! We got some new family photos done (with Alba Lumos Photography again, of course!) to use for our holiday cards and spent a beautiful, relaxing Thanksgiving together with our families. It was wonderful.
December
And last but certainly not least was our December. We did our best to sneak family time in as much as we could between my Christmas Carol performances. We’ve had a beautiful, crazy, chaotic last few months and I truly cannot wait to spend my January working and relaxing and making up for a bit of lost time.
Here’s to a great end to 2017 and a beautiful beginning to 2018! Love you all!
