Before this scary, wild, intense COVID-19 situation, I made several goals for 2020.
All possible and achievable but certainly pushing myself to be better, work harder, and grow as a person further this year than ever before.
But right now?
Right now it feels hard to finish anything.
Right now I’m trying to find the balance between sticking to my goals and giving myself grace.
I hear so much about “taking advantage of this time” and “using time wisely” and “getting things done that you haven’t been able to before” but to be honest, I’m kinda living minute-to-minute over here.
Sometimes I feel like I’m Superwoman and can accomplish anything and sometimes it’s legitimately difficult to get out of bed.
Sometimes productivity is the name of the game and sometimes all I get done is making myself coffee and Facetiming my mom.
But that’s where the grace comes in.
I’m working to do what I can and not completely lose sight of all my goals, while also acknowledging that this global situation is way way bigger than me and it’s okay to sometimes feel the weight of that.
Productivity is great and if you’re feeling motivated right now to jump into a project or a class or your work or something – anything – that makes you feel good and helps calm you in the midst of this massive storm, go for it! Go for it with abandon and let yourself get lost in it!
But if you’re struggling right now to do even the most basic of things? If all you’re getting done in a day is waking up, keeping yourself and your family fed, watching Netflix, and then going back to bed?
Let that be okay too.
You know yourself better than anyone and you know what will help you get through this right now.
Not some rando on the internet (myself included, by the way) or some productivity guru or anyone in between.
You know yourself best.
Do what you need to do to get through this.
Right now, you have nothing but time.
Do what you need to do, whatever that looks like.
And most importantly:
Give. Yourself. Grace.
