Kickin’ it Old School

personal· Taking Stock

31 Aug

I’ve been forcing myself to write one blog post a month because back in December I made a goal that I would write one non-podcast related blog post every month of 2020.

I did pretty well for January and February and then… well, we all know what happened next.

I’ve been struggling each month to come up with something to write that:

#1. Wasn’t a lie.

#2. Was worth writing.

And honestly, I’ve struggled every. single. month.

Back in 2017, I used to do monthly posts “Taking Stock” on my life and answering a few of the same questions, just as a personal update for my readers who care about that sort of thing.

When I sat down to write, those old posts came to mind and seemed like the most fitting choice for this month’s piece! So, here we go…

Making: scrapbook pages! Lots and lots of scrapbook pages! I use pocket pages, for anyone whose familiar with this sort of thing and I’ve been playing catch-up in a BIG way these past few weeks/months.

Cooking: one new recipe a month! That’s another goal I made in December and one that I’ve stuck to pretty easily, even in this weird time.

Drinking: a Diet Coke. Like, literally right this second that’s what I’m drinking. But I’ve also been super into making at-home iced caramel macchiatos.

Reading: Too many to list! As per usual, I’m working on tons of books at once. I’m caught up on my Goodreads challenge, though!

Wanting: my anxiety to chill out and our vacation this week to be super fun!

Looking: at photos from our full-family vacation in February and editing my favorites!

Playing: Honestly, I’m playing a Spotify playlist I made called “Sad Songs” right now, HAHAHA! I promise, I’m not sad, I just LOVE sad songs sometimes! (Is anyone else like this or just me? 😛 )

Wishing: I was better at time management in this crazy season.

Watching: several shows – Christopher and I are going through this Netflix show called “Dark” and Jess and I are watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which I’ve never seen before. Super fun!

Enjoying: a relaxed night of hanging out, listening to music, and relaxing.

Waiting: to see what next months brings!

Liking: spending so much time with this little family of mine. <3

Wondering: what next month will bring! #justrealtalk

Loving: the book my friend Chelsea sent me in the mail!

Hoping: I can get caught up on my 2020 scrapbook soon!

Marveling: at all of the blessings in my life.

Needing: a cup of coffee, but I need to drink water instead.  Boo!

Smelling: Diet Coke because I’m drinking it? haha

Wearing: the same sweatpants I’ve been wearing for an embarrassing number of days, hahaha, whoops!

Noticing: how important the little things turn out to be.

Knowing: it’ll all be okay.

Thinking: of my family and how grateful I am for them.

Feeling:  Stressed. Grateful. Overwhelmed.

Hi There, I’m Grady!

I'm a wife and stepmama obsessed with dresses, planners, and iced coffees bigger than my head.

I believe that having a happy, healthy stepfamily is not only possible but necessary for stepmom sanity, and I hope to provide a place of support for stepmoms who need to know someone else just
"gets it.”
